A New View of the Bible | ||
At the 1964 New York World's Fair, the National Cash Register Company
(or "NCR") unveiled a new microfilm technology at their pavilion. NCR proclaimed a technology that could "reproduce the entire Bible on a small card, or store the Library of Congress in six filing cabinets"! Known as "PCMI", it allowed entire books to be printed in miniature on a sheet of film that could then, in turn, be read under magnification. Microfilm had existed for some time, but the PCMI technology allowed a far-greater level of miniaturization then had ever been seen before! NCR unveiled the technology using a microfilm (or "microform") Bible, designed to be read under magnification at 100 power. |
